California Residents Fleeing To Neighboring States

The high cost of living, including housing and taxes has been the cause of thousands of California residents leaving the State for neighboring western states with lower costs of living.  The article below was published a few years ago discussing this topic as it relates to the influx of California residents to Las Vegas, Nevada and Phoenix, Arizona.

California had the highest out-migration than any other state in the country, followed by Texas, with 467,338 out movers, and New York, with 452,580, according to 2017 US Census data. Los Angeles County alone had 312,000 people moving to a different area within the past year.
